Q1. How does the validation process work?

 

Step 1: The customer verifies the authenticity of the banknote attached to the merchandise by checking the water marks, security thread, paper fibers, and color-shifting ink of the note.

      

Step 2: The customer sends a text message with the serial number of the note to the ValidateMyTag Authentication Center. Or, the customer submits the serial number to the ValidateMyTag website via a cell phone, PDA, kiosk station, or other Internet enabled device.  

Step 3- Once the serial number is submitted, a validation message is instantaneously returned to the customer containing the Universal Product Code (UPC), Style Number, and other product verifiers of the merchandise being purchased.

 

 

Q2. Why are banknotes used in the authentication process?

 

Banknotes employ some of the latest anti-counterfeit technologies that are available today.  In addition, banknotes can be tracked by the unique serial number that is marked on each note.  Furthermore, by associating a banknote with the merchandise, the counterfeiter would not only have to counterfeit the merchandise, but also the note.  Doing so would immediately bring their counterfeiting operation under direct fire by the United States Secret Service. 

 

 

Q3. At what point are banknotes attached to the merchandise?

 

Banknotes are attached at the point of manufacturing.  Once the merchandise is shipped, Port Authorities can randomly check the authenticity of the merchandise using the same validation procedure that has been provided to customers. 

 

  

Q4.  Isn't this new validation process extremely expensive, being that banknotes are used as tags?

 

On the contrary.   The cost of attaching a banknote to an article of clothing, such as a one dollar bill (which is the monetary equivalence of the smallest federal reserve note), is reflected in an increased price of the clothing, but would be refunded to the customer by means of removing the note from the article of clothing. 

 

 

 

Q5. How long does it take for a validation response to be returned by the ValidateMyTag Authentication Center?

 

Validation responses are returned virtually instantaneously by the ValidateMyTag Authentication Center.
